Terms of use
As of: 28 October 2026
This is a translation. The German version is legally binding.
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
1.1 Framura is an app for editing photos with frame and collage templates, with a community where users can publish, discover and use templates. The provider is Ersin Kurt, trading as stubelabs, Lütgendortmunder Hellweg 16, 44388 Dortmund, Germany, email: hallo@framura.app ("we"). More details are in the imprint at framura.app/en/impressum.
1.2 These terms apply to the use of the Framura app for Android and iOS and its community features. You do not need an account to edit and export photos or to view templates (guest mode); these terms apply then too, unless they require an account. If you report content without an account, only section 7 applies to you.
1.3 How we handle your personal data is set out in the app privacy policy at framura.app/en/app-datenschutz. These terms contain no consent to data processing. Whether the app may send crash reports is a separate choice you make in the app.
2. Account and contract
2.1 You need an account to vote, save templates, create collections, follow creators and publish templates. You create it by signing in with your Google or Apple account and accepting these terms. This concludes a free-of-charge contract of use between you and us.
2.2 Minimum age. Framura is intended for people aged 16 and over, including use without an account. You may only create an account if you are at least 16 years old. We do not check age. If we learn that an account belongs to a person under 16, we delete it; sections 7.4 and 7.5 apply accordingly. If you are under 18, you need the consent of your parents or another person with parental responsibility for this contract.
2.3 Keep access to your Google or Apple account secret. One account per person. Accounts may not be sold or transferred.
3. Services during the beta
3.1 Framura is currently a free beta version. It may contain bugs. We develop, change or remove features where this is reasonable for you; we announce significant restrictions in the app.
3.2 We aim for smooth operation but do not promise any particular availability of the community features. Editing and exporting work on your device even without a connection to our servers.
3.3 We may temporarily switch off public publishing of templates, for example during the beta or to protect the community. You can then only save templates privately. There is no entitlement to particular community features.
3.4 These terms promise no paid features. Should we introduce paid offers later, separate terms will apply, which you accept separately.
3.5 The app describes which RAW formats and cameras Framura can open. We do not promise any particular support.
3.6 The app stores drafts and the photos in them only on your device. We have no access to them and make no backup. If you uninstall the app or lose your device, drafts cannot be restored. Export important pictures in good time.
4. Your content and your rights in it
4.1 Photos you edit and pictures you export belong to you. We acquire no rights in them. We do not upload them to our servers; this only happens if you upload a photo yourself as your profile photo (section 4.3). What the app stores on your device, and what of it may end up in your device's backups, is set out in the privacy policy.
4.2 When you publish a template, you upload its layout, the texts in the template, name, description, tags and a preview image that the app creates from bundled sample photos. Your own photos are not uploaded.
4.3 For published templates and your profile details (username, display name, profile photo, bio, Instagram name) you grant us a simple, non-transferable, free and worldwide right to store and reproduce them, to make them publicly available in the app (gallery, profile, collections, search) and through links of the form framura.app/t/… and framura.app/u/…, and to adapt them technically for this purpose (for example by resizing), as far as necessary to run Framura. The right ends when you delete the template, set its visibility to "Private" or delete your account; technically required copies expire within the periods stated in the privacy policy. Subject to section 6.3, other people's remixes remain.
4.4 You decide the visibility of each template: Public (visible to everyone, even without an account), Unlisted (anyone with the link) or Private (only you). You can change it at any time.
4.5 You confirm that you hold the rights to the content you publish and that it does not violate these terms or the law.
5. Rules for content and conduct
5.1 Content (templates, texts in templates, names, descriptions, tags, profile details, names of public collections) is not allowed if it
- is unlawful, for example criminal hate speech, threats, insults, or infringements of copyright, trademark or personality rights;
- endangers minors or contains sexual content;
- glorifies violence or calls for violence or self-harm;
- contains other people's personal data without their consent (such as addresses or phone numbers);
- impersonates another person, brand or organisation or creates that impression;
- is spam, advertising, fraud or mass repetition.
5.2 Usernames consist of 3 to 24 lower-case letters, digits or underscores. Some names are reserved. You can change your username at most twice in 30 days; we reserve your old name for you for 30 days. After an account is deleted, its username is blocked for everyone for 30 days.
5.3 It is also not allowed to disrupt Framura technically, circumvent security measures, retrieve content automatically or manipulate votes and use counts (for example with several accounts).
5.4 You are responsible for your content. If you culpably break these rules, you are liable under statutory law for the damage this causes us.
6. Bundled content and remixes
6.1 You may use looks, starter layouts, sample photos, fonts and other bundled content in your pictures. Sample photos come from Unsplash and are under the Unsplash License; fonts are under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. The licences of the open-source software used are in the app under Legal › Licences. The included RAW library LibRaw is under the CDDL 1.0; any terms in these terms of use that differ from it are offered by the provider of Framura alone, not by the authors of LibRaw.
6.2 We compile curated content in "Discover" (such as editions and texts by our editors) under our own responsibility.
6.3 Remixes. If you allow remixes of a template, others may publish a modified version in Framura that refers to your template. Pictures that someone creates and exports with a remix may be used freely by that person. The layout itself may not be offered outside Framura as their own template. If you delete your template or your account, remixes already published remain; the reference to your template is removed. You can switch off "Allow remixes" at any time; this applies to future remixes.
6.4 Using other people's templates. You may fill public and unlisted templates by others with your own photos in Framura, adjust them and export them as pictures. You may use these pictures freely, including outside Framura and even if the template is later deleted. Anyone who publishes a template as public or unlisted grants all users this right free of charge. You may not offer the layout itself outside Framura as your own template.
7. Reporting, moderation and redress
7.1 Reporting. You can report content you consider unlawful or against the rules in the app via "Report" or by email to hallo@framura.app, even without an account. For unlawful content we need an explanation and your statement that you are acting in good faith. We confirm receipt if you give us a way to contact you, and we tell you our decision.
7.2 How we decide. A person reviews every report, and a person decides on every measure. We do not scan or assess content automatically. Only fixed technical rules apply automatically: the rules for usernames (section 5.2) and limits on the number of reports in the app; if a limit applies, you can report by email. We decide promptly, carefully and objectively, unlawful content first, usually within seven days. We decide based on the law and these terms, respecting the fundamental rights of everyone involved, in particular freedom of expression and of the arts.
7.3 Measures. If content violates the law or these terms, we may
- hide the content from others,
- delete the content,
- remove profile details,
- suspend the account for a limited time.
We choose the mildest measure that is sufficient, taking into account severity, frequency and intent. A suspension lasts at most 90 days per measure; there are no indefinite suspensions. During a suspension you can sign in and see a notice of the suspension and when it ends. You cannot publish, vote, follow or collect, or change your profile; your templates and public collections are not visible to others. Your username and profile details remain visible. You can still view your data, delete your own content and delete your account. The suspension ends automatically when its period expires, or earlier if we lift it.
7.4 Statement of reasons. If we take a measure, we tell you no later than when we take it, by email to your account's address and, where possible, in the app. The statement names the measure and its territorial scope (for a suspension its length), the facts it is based on, whether it follows a report or our own review, the rule in these terms or the legal provision and why the content breaks it, whether automated means were used, and your means of redress. We name the reporting person only where strictly necessary.
7.5 Objection and redress. You can object to a decision (complaint) free of charge within six months after we have told you about it, by replying to our notice or writing to hallo@framura.app. This applies to people affected by a measure and to reporters whose report we rejected. A person reviews the decision again, and we tell you the outcome with reasons. If the review shows that the decision was wrong, we reverse it without undue delay. Independently of this, you can go to court at any time. You can also turn to an out-of-court dispute settlement body certified under Article 21 of Regulation (EU) 2022/2065; as Framura is a micro enterprise, we are not obliged to take part in its proceedings (Article 19 of the Regulation) and decide on this case by case.
7.6 Misuse. If someone repeatedly submits manifestly unfounded reports or complaints, we may, after a prior warning, deprioritise or stop processing their reports for a reasonable period. We always review reports of unlawful content.
7.7 Criminal offences. If we become aware of information giving rise to a suspicion of a criminal offence that threatens the life or safety of persons, we inform the competent law enforcement authorities (Article 18 of Regulation (EU) 2022/2065).
7.8 Point of contact. Single point of contact under Articles 11 and 12 of Regulation (EU) 2022/2065 for authorities and users: hallo@framura.app. Languages: German, English.
8. Termination and deletion
8.1 You can terminate the contract at any time without notice by deleting your account in the app under Settings › Account › "Delete account" or by requesting deletion by email from your account's address to datenschutz@framura.app. What is deleted and what we still keep for legal reasons is set out in the privacy policy, section "Deleting your account". Open reports or measures do not prevent deletion.
8.2 We can terminate the contract with four weeks' notice, for example if we discontinue Framura. We can terminate without notice for good cause, in particular for serious violations of section 5 or violations repeated despite a suspension. We hear you first unless this is unreasonable given the severity of the violation. Sections 7.4 and 7.5 apply accordingly to the termination.
9. Liability
9.1 We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health and under the German Product Liability Act.
9.2 For slight negligence we are liable only for breaches of essential contractual obligations, meaning obligations whose fulfilment makes proper use possible in the first place and on whose observance you may regularly rely. Liability is then limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this kind of contract.
9.3 As Framura is free of charge, we are otherwise liable only under the statutory rules for services provided free of charge. For the loss of drafts on your device (section 3.6) we are liable only under section 9.1.
10. Privacy
The app privacy policy (framura.app/en/app-datenschutz) explains how we process your data. Send privacy questions and requests for access, rectification or erasure to datenschutz@framura.app.
11. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms with effect for the future if the law or Framura's features change and the change is reasonable for you. We do not use this procedure to change the core of what each side provides. We tell you about the new version at least six weeks before it takes effect, in the app and by email to your account's address. You can object to the change until it takes effect, for example by email to hallo@framura.app. If you object, the previous terms continue to apply to you; we may then terminate the contract under section 8.2. You can also delete your account at any time without any disadvantage. If you do not object, the new terms apply from when they take effect; we point this out specifically in the notice. We never obtain consent to the processing of your personal data through this procedure.
12. Final provisions
12.1 German law applies. If you are a consumer habitually resident in another country, the mandatory consumer protection rules of that country remain unaffected.
12.2 The place of jurisdiction is Dortmund if you are a merchant, a legal entity under public law or a special fund under public law.
12.3 We are neither willing nor obliged to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board (§ 36 VSBG). Section 7.5 remains unaffected.
12.4 If you download Framura from Apple's App Store, Apple's Standard License Agreement for apps (EULA) also applies in relation to Apple; Apple is not a party to this contract and is not responsible for Framura. For Google Play, Google's terms apply in relation to Google.
12.5 If a provision is invalid, the others remain valid; the statutory rule takes the place of the invalid one.
